Reference to posting #102: Hello Mike Johnson. I did not have the pleasure of knowing your Uncle Dwight E. Timberlake it was the first day we had any contact. He was on the convoy I was part of security for[ K Troop, 11th ACR]on May 21,1967 and we all went through a test of bravery that`s for sure. I can tell you that everyone rose above the call of duty on that morning and I am sure your Uncle Dwight did the same. You can rest asured that your Uncle Dwight E. Timberlake gave his life in an act of heroism and tried to help his friends on that fateful day.

Hello to All,

My name is Mike Johnston. I am a nephew of Dwight E. Timberlake. I never new him as I was born in 78'. However, I have heard many people say good things about him. From time to time family members have told me I remind them of him.

Anyway, I was at my aunts house a while back and she had chest of all of his things from the war. It was sad to me and intersting to read all of the letters he had wrote home during Vietnam. Since then I have been curious to learn more about him.

In most instances it is a hard topic to bring up in my family as you can understand. I was wondering if anyone who knew him could tell me a little more about my uncle?

God Bless,
Mike

I served in K troop 11 AC 2nd recon in Regensburg 1964 as personnel specialist during build up for rotation of unit to US and eventually Nam. My fellow soldiers were constantly training and in the field or doing border patrol. I was proud to serve with this dedicated bunch who later distinguished themselves in Nam.
