I served with K Troop Nov 68 to Dec 69. Bien Hoa, Tan Son Nhut. I think that's how you spell it. It will be 33 years this Dec. 29, 2002. Where did all the time go? Hope all my fellow K Troopers are doing fine.

Thanks for the great website. It really takes me back. I served with the 541st MID in 1968-69. We probably crossed paths as I was field interrogation and traveled around a lot.

Thanks for the memories Bob. Our Army today is on watch for our nation, and its soldiers are superb. We all should be proud of our contributions, and take comfort in the fact that our actions, however small, made a difference - and helped make our Army what it is today. I am proud to be an American, and very proud to have been part of K Troop. Again, thanks for giving us a part of our past to show to our grandchildren and loved ones.
Allons!

Editor's Note: John Longhouser was my commanding officer for a major part of my tour of duty with K Troop. He was an outstanding officer. I am proud to have served under his command.

Bob, I just saw the movie "We Were Soldiers" and it got me thinking of my Army days. I typed in 11thAC and got your excellent web site. I spent 1963-1964 in The 11th AC, 3rd Recon and K Troop, Regensburg, Germany. I rotated home and the whole unit gyroed to the US shortly after and then went to Nam. I never got to Nam and I often wish I had. I grew up in Allentown, PA and spent most of my life there. Thanks for listening, Alan

Great web site. I'm a 94b20 who served with the 19th Engineers at Bao Loc, 35 miles from Ban My Thout in 1970. Enjoyed reading GI coffee and such. I went though Ft. Lee in 1969. Thanks for the memories.

I was a proud member of K Troop in 1967 on May 21. I was on a convoy to Xuan Loc and was ambushed. All though my time with the Cav was short, I remember those memories always.
Editor's Note: Read about the ambush of May 21, 1967 in which 16 brave men of K Troop were killed . GO HERE

Served as an armor crewman with Company M 3/11 in 1st and 2nd platoons from June 1967 - June 1968. I was wounded in action twice. Spent a lot of time in enemy contact alongside K troopers and they always got the job done. The only guy from K Troop I knew at all well was a trooper named Jeff Sammons from Michigan who was a good friend, but I knew I could always rely on any of them when it counted. 3rd Squadron kicked butt and K troop did their share. Thanks guys.

Great web site. My contratulations. My father was in the 11th Cav, B Troop in the last horse mounted units. He was stationed at Ft. Seely, Ft. Ord and others. I have been looking for data and memorbila (?) from the horse Cav days. Does anyone out there know where I can find added information about the horse cavalry times (1940's) or so. I was in the Army also from 1965 to 1968 but all state side.

I am trying to find the Doc or someone that was in 3rd Platoon from April 1968 to November 1968. I can not get my Purple Heart without a letter from them. The first time was south of Saigon. We were called to help an infantry platoon. My ACAV was turned over by a tank. It caught fire and burned. The second time was in Oct. We were going to a hamlet to cordon it. My driver ran off in a bomb crater. I was medivaced out. All this was never listed as combat on medical records. If you were there, I need your help.
Thank you, Jimmy Rogers

Hey Bob Hersey, it's me Richard Perez, I wanted to say thank you for the effort you and all the other fellow Blackhorse brothers put forth in helping me. It really means a lot to me and I hope that someone remembers that mission in May of 1969. I would really like to settle this claim with the VA. I have faith that sooner or later we will put closure on it.
Thanks again, Richard Perez (Speedy)

To Substantiate A Claim
Editor's Note: This entry is made on behalf of Richard Perez by Bob Hersey.
Richard is looking for anyone who remembers him and Platoon Leader, Lt. White of K Troop in May of 1969. Richard was wounded in Tay Ninh by shrapnel from an exploding RPG that struck a tank. If you remember Lt. White and know of his whereabouts or remember Richard, please write to him at his e-mail address above.

Hey, it's me again. I really apreciate being able to log on and listen to the song in background. I'm curently singing the songe for my school chior and it really helps being able to get familiar with the tune. On and I love what this site stands for. War is an atrosious event but we all owe our lives to those who fought for us in the war so I think your a great person for setting this up :) I'll be seeing you round. I'll come back tomorrow.
