I was with the 8th ordnance company (62 to 65) that supported the 11th A/C regiment in Straubing, Landshut and Regensburg Germany just before the unit was de-activated and sent to Nam. We had the Czech border duty during the cold war. Duty was really good with the German beer, beautiful forests and the women......Oh well, memories.

While my timing was good I still thought about you cav guys and wondered how the old Black Horse regiment was doing. I know you did us proud and for that I will always be thankful.

Thanks for your website! It's great. Allons & Ad Alta! Any old 8th Ordnance guys--send me an e-mail.

Jim

I served with C Co. 2/47 (mech) 9th Infantry (LRRP) 68-69. This is a great web site. We seem to have more people wanting to know what we did and I actually had a young woman thank me last week about 10 times. I was touched. It just may be 33 years too late.

Living in Washington, DC, I decided to visit the Vietnam Memorial last summer during my early morning walk and after some time I decided to check the guide index to see if there was anyone with my last name, Moyer, Listed on the wall. There were a few, as I recall, but one in particular bore my own name, with only the middle name being different. My name is Barry Alan Moyer and the soldiers name was Barry Lee Moyer...who was killed on March 2, 1968 at the young age of 19. We both were from Pennsylvania and both born in June, tho I in '41 and he in '48. Naturally this set me to wondering about him and I resolved to visit each summer thereafter. Today, I happened to see his name posted on Google and jumped to this web site and now I know a little more and I will visit the wall again soon and he'll be less a mystery. And I think that's pretty nice. This may seem awfully trite to those who served there or lost loved ones ...I don't mean to suggest that this was or is an amusement for me. Visiting the wall is an overwhelming thing and I think however one can connect with it, is okay. My apologies to anyone offended.

Bob: This web page is outstanding. I looked at many of the pictures...not all 500, but well over 10. My eleven year old daughter had a lot of questions about Vietnam, when she saw some of them. The pictures were extremely interesting to me. I'm very proud of you, and my brother and brother-in-law for serving in Vietnam. I'll tell both of them about this site.

Keep up the great work your doing.

I was an FO off and on for K Troop in 1967. I was with K Troop riding behind the Captain's track on 21 Jul 67 when we got ambushed while going to the aid of L Troop, the lead element. We lost 14 KIA and nearly 100 men WIA. It was an honor serving with the men of K Troop and all the rest of the warriors of the 11th. ACR. We were the "Baddest Muthas in the Valley."

I served with K troop 3rd plt. from Sep 67 to Sep 68. With great pride. I got out after two years. I came back in eight years later and stayed for 18 and 1/2 years to finish out my 20 year retirement. Being drafted at a young age and seeing all that action (11 major fire fights) in one year, well shall we say, left one heck of a impression on my young mind, as it did with most of us boys. For the last 18 plus years of my military service every thing just seemed anticlimactic. I had many important jobs while I was in the Army and I gave it my best. Viet Nam left a mark on my mind that I will keep for the rest of my life. I now live in Peoria, Arizona with my wife Royce and am very happy, as life goes. But even though I will never forget " THE YEAR " I do have many wonderful memories I will carry to Fiddler's Green. I don't keep in contact with any of my Nam brothers, save one, Dan Stroia who is the best friend any one could have. If anyone would like to say hi, Please Do!...ALLONS

I lived in Bellefontaine, Ohio when I went into the Army. I now live in Elkhart, IN. I was stationed in Straubing, Germany from 59 to 61. Was in 1st Battalion, S3 Battalion Headquarters. I work with, at that time, Major George S. Patton, he was our Battalion Executive Officer and worked in S1. What a great man. Spitting image of his father. If anyone would have his address, I would like to write him.

My dad was in the battle of Suoi Cat December 2, 1966. He was a Captain then. He was Captain Bill Coley. He was the senior advior to the 43rd Reg of the 10th ARVN Division. Later, as Major Bill Coley, he was the S-4 for the 11th ACR in 1968-69. Lt. Col. Bill Coley died in March of 1989. Has anyone heard of him?
