Dear Mom & Dad,

Greetings once again from Vietnam.  We are still here at Tan Son Nhut and enjoying it as ever.  Rumors are that we will leave here the 18th.  The troop is suppose to go back to Phuo Loi.  That means the trains will no doubt go to Bien Hoa.  As you know I go on R&R the 18th and will be back on the 23rd.  By now, you no doubt have my letter in which I asked you for an additional $100.  I hope that you sent it for I would like to have that $100 for R&R.  At the present time, I only have $240.  I would like to go to Bangkok with at least $300.

When I get to Blackhorse, I will get a partial pay and also all the back pay they owe me for Spec./5 which will probably amount to $75.  All I have to do is go to finance and ask them to give me my partial pay.  I will probably go in on the 14th or 15th which will be in four or five days.  I just hope that when I go to Blackhorse that I don't have to pull ambush patrol.  I don't mind ambush patrol here in the field but at Blackhorse, it's a bitch.  If they have enough guys back there, I won't have to.

Every Thursday, 3rd Squadron gets hit with a 14 man ambush patrol so I will be there on a Thursday.  Oh well, I will just have to wait and see.  The days go so slow that it doesn't ever seem that the 18th will ever get here.  I am really looking forward to five days and nights in Bangkok.  There might be a possibility that I will be able to call home while in Bangkok so any time between the 18th and 23rd you can expect a call.  I have no idea how much it will cost but if it will be too much, I won't call and if you should get a pretty expensive bill, take the money out of my account.

Well, 184 days left today.  In two more days I will be over the hill.  I'm getting short.  Well, this short-timer has to go to work.  So take care.

By for now!
