Four companies have produced Jeeps over the years. They are Willys, Bantam, Ford and Ford American General. Models begin with the Bantam Pilot Model BRC-60. They were produced for all branches of the service. Willys turned out over 335,000 Willys MB models for World War II. Models used in Vietnam were the Willys M170 and the Ford American-General M151.
Extensive information about the Jeep may be found at the M38-A1 Restoration Site and The Pictorial History of the Universal Jeep.
